Father's Day fun!!

What a great Father's Day weekend we had, if I do say so myself. After the movie night with Tucker on Friday, we spent Saturday together as a family of four, which is rare unfortunately for us.
We cooked Corey a great Saturday night dinner for a pre-Father's Day celebration of steak, shrimp, pasta salad, and baked beans. YUMMY! Then on Sunday morning, breakfast casserole and hot coffee/milk for all!
But the fun REALLY started when we got home from church and lunch with Didi, Papa Mike, Uncle Travis and Aunt Liz. It's SLIPPING SLIDE TIME! My two boys had a blast! Addie enjoyed it for maybe 3 minutes, but naptime was much more important for her (yep, she's just like her Mommy!)
Check out how cute my boys are having fun together: nothing sweeter than Daddy playing with his little man!!

Seriously... is it almost July already?!

I just opened my planner to catch up on the upcoming week's events and literally "freaked out" that it is almost July! Where did this month go?? Summer is FLYING by and I haven't even begun to enjoy it fully... of course, being an election candidate is certainly not helping. Now I'll take a little time to update what's happening at the Consuegra house these past couple of weeks...
1. trip to MawMaw and Papa Bert's house in Maryland for a fun-filled wedding weekend.
2. our 4 year wedding anniversary!!
3. Addie's first cookies and her new "tricks"
4. Tucker's first movie and some fun stories

During the second week of June, Team Consuegra hopped a Delta flight to Baltimore to spend 5 days with MawMaw, Papa Bert, Uncle "D", Aunt Kristin, and the ever-so-loved Baby Tyson. It worked out that one of Corey's good childhood friends was getting married that weekend, so we were able to celebrate with wedding festivities as well. I'm ashamed to say that I was a bad photographer for the week and only got a few cute shots of the three Consuegra grandchildren.. These are from the wedding rehearsal dinner... Thanks to the Allnutt family for hosting!!

During the week had a great visit with Abuela y Abuelo (Corey's grandparents), and all of MawMaw's family while we celebrated Cousin Josh's graduation from the University of Maryland! Way to go Josh! Aunt Jan, Uncle Joel, cousin Josh, and Aunt Susie babysat Addie, Tucker and Tyson so all of us could enjoy Ryan and Samm's wedding on Saturday night.

On June 17th, Corey and I celebrated our 4 year wedding anniversary! I guess time really does FLY by when you are having babies... I mean fun!

On June 16th, Addie turned 7 months old... over 1/2 way to being a year old! REALLY?! Clapping her hands and squealing, or growling, is still her favorite way to expressing excitement and happiness, and she's beginning to babble more sounds and more often. She's trying her very best to wave "bye bye", but her hand just won't quite cooperate just yet. When she's on her tummy, sometimes her knees get in the crawling position, but there's still no intent on moving on her own yet. Why crawl when you have a Mommy that'll carry you, right? She really enjoys her cookies now and is eating a lot of table food, just mashed up. I wish I had given Tucker table food, rather than jarred baby food, much earlier... Here are some sweet pictures of my sweet girl...

As for Tucker, because he's doing such a great job potty training, we promised him a trip to the movies for his latest obsession... TOY STORY 3!! We dropped off Addie and Didi and Papa Mikes so that the three of us could have a special date. I am so lucky to have two such handsome men to take me out!

As you can see, he was ready for his movie, complete with Toy Story tshirt and Toy Story, in particular, Buzz Lightyear socks! When we walked into the movie theater, hands full of popcorn and Coke, his first words were, "Mommy! That's a BIG TV!" He laughed out loud, giggled when I giggled, and asked LOTS of questions about the projector (the "little" TV) and overall LOVED the movie experience. We are very excited to take him again soon.

Just one cute story from Tucker: Lately his new habit has been to wake in the middle of the night and come in our room. Because Addie is sleeping well, I'm not too awake when he says "Mommy, I wanna get in your bed", so needless to say, he gets in our bed. But last week, after he climbed in bed with us and kicked me constantly for 15 minutes straight, Addie cried out. Corey settled her down and got back in bed. Then, Tucker rolled over and hugged me tightly and said in a sweet whisper, "Mommy, I love you so much." Yep, my heart just melted all over again. He really is Mommy's boy!

Kids say the darndest things....

And I can attest that Mr. Cosby was right when he said this...

Tucker says the craziest, funniest, and sweetest things. It's amazing what goes on through his head and how he expresses himself. It is crazy to think that he'll be three years old in just a few short months. Time really does fly by when you are having fun (and not sleeping much).

Lately his obsession has been poop... yes, I said poop. Everything is poop, poop, poop... Ironically enough, the pooping part is the thing we are having an issue with potty training. But I'll leave that to another blog about potty training...

Here are some of my most favorite sayings/quotes and milestones from the past couple of weeks...

He can count to 20, knows he's from Covington, GA, spell his name, knows his colors, ABCs and can visually recognize all 26 uppercase letters and a few lowercase letters. We are working on his birthday, home phone number, lowercase letters and number recognition (he's pretty good 1-5) for the summer.

"Mommy, I'm so proud of you!" (as I pooped... haha)

"Shhhh... Addie, crying won't make it better."

"Mommy, I poop in the potty like a big boyeee..." (yeh, not so much.)

Mommy - "Tucker, who signed your baseball?" Tucker - "OH! It's Mommy Consuegra!"

"and God bless MawMaw and Papa Bert, Didi and Papa, and.... uhm.... uhm.... CHOCOLATE! Mommy, I love chocolate. Amen." (bedtime prayers)

"Mommy, hold you."

And now for my Addie. Again, I can't believe that she's almost 7 months old. She literally melts my heart with her smile, so you can imagine how Corey must feel about his little girl. If I've ever seen two people who love each other, it's my two babies. Addie follows Tucker around the room and cries when he's out of her sight. When Tucker plays baseball or basketball, he wants us to clap for him, so Addie's latest "trick" is clapping her hands and laughing at her big brother. They seriously love one another so much. I can only hope and pray that it lasts for their lifetime. Here are some of Addie's stats for the past few weeks as well:

*6 month appt: 17lbs, 9oz, 26 inches long.

*Clapping her hands

*"gagagagaga" sound

*rolling over from her belly to back

*sitting alone without any support

*sleeping 10-11 hours at night, without a bottle

*growling/giggling when she is happy

As for me and Corey, we are still just as busy as ever. The campaign for Board of Education is keeping me extremely busy as well as planning for teaching in the Fall. Corey traveled to Japan in April, as well as Michigan, Arkansas, NY, NJ, FL, KY, and OK in May.

A new blogger is born....

Yes online world, WATCH OUT! Team Consuegra is Mommy's attempt to document our crazy, crazy life... as it might take me forever to get organized and figure this blogging out, I vow to do my best and keep it updated. Which means, more to come... this is a work in progress.
